Roly Polies

My entry for #anthrochallenge's June 2013 contest, "To Be Young Again."

When I was younger, at one of the schools I went to, there was this little courtyard by the classrooms with rough wooden steps leading down to it and some planted areas off along the sides. I used to like sitting in a corner during my breaks, playing with the pill bugs that crawled around in the dirt. They were so much fun to watch as they crawled around and curled up into their little shells whenever they got scared. I had a friend who sometimes sat with me there, and she called them "roly polies," which is kind of a silly name, but an appropriate one, I think. It's a small memory, but I felt it was appropriate for the contest.

And once again I end up representing myself as Reman Longtail, even though that character didn't even exist way back then. How odd.
